Migrating Geese - Collaborative Installation
Project Type
Photography
Date
April 2023
This Site-Specific Installation has been researched, designed, and constructed by participants of Art for Wellbeing Workshops at Wells Old Cottage Hospital. The models are constructed from willow and paper using a technique developed during previous workshops.
Our ideas evolved from the theme of ‘Migration’, reflecting the landscape and wildlife surrounding Wells Old Community Hospital and how the local community interact with it. We chose to represent and explore our ideas by creating models of geese flying in a formation, reflecting the migration path of our local geese directly over this building, in an awesome natural spectacle.
We wanted to acknowledge and celebrate the many lives that have related to and been touched by Wells Old Cottage Hospital throughout its existence and evolution to the vibrant community hub it is today . We hope our work will also raise questions around the theme of migration on a more global scale. With many of our families living and moving around the globe, along with the current focus on political and climate related migration we wanted to inspire thought and conversation around the idea that; ‘Birds do not recognise borders’.
