Service Description

Experiment with Gel Plate Printing Gel plate printing is a simple and satisfying way to make one-off prints, building up colour, texture and pattern in layers. We’ll begin by looking at the work of artists and printmakers, gathering ideas from different approaches to colour, shape, pattern and the natural world. Using leaves, grasses and other natural forms gathered from the garden, alongside paint, rollers and gel plates, we’ll explore different ways of making an image. We’ll work with layering, positive and negative shapes, colour combinations and some of the unexpected effects that are part of the process. There’ll be demonstrations throughout and plenty of time to try different techniques, develop your own ideas and build up a collection of prints. No previous printmaking experience is needed and all materials are provided.
